Bio

After graduating from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, Ed Baumgarten joined the ranks of young advertising professionals. After a few years at Grey Advertising in New York, he began to focus on the sales promotion and collateral portion of the business. It was then he began to discover and work on editorial design as well. For the next decade, he worked in both sectors, eventually going freelance under the company name of Nexxus Design. As his work progressed, trade show exhibit design became an important aspect of his professional capabilities.

As principal of Nexxus Design, Ed has extensive experience in creative development, client contact and presentations, art, copy and photo supervision, and 4/c commercial printing, as well as the current computer applications (Adobe Creative Cloud). And since Nexxus is a one-man shop, he's also been responsible for management functions including account servicing, budgeting, and defining project specifications. Ed's design skills are usually print media-based, however he's also done exhibit booth design and some web information architecture*.

Ed has been teaching at Parsons School of Design (The New School) here in New York in the Communication Design and Design & Technology departments since 1990. References are available upon request.
